About the Company
Our client is a well-established and growing specialist consultancy that partners with organisations to help them make better people decisions through insight, data and expertise. With a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, they pride themselves on delivering high-quality work while fostering an engaging and supportive environment for their employees.
As the business continues to evolve, they are seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to take ownership of the People function and play a key role in supporting both the business and its people through the next stage of growth and development.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a pragmatic and commercially minded HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced SME environment. Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of the full employee lifecycle, providing both strategic and operational HR support across the business.
This is a standalone role where you'll have the autonomy to shape and enhance people practices while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day delivery and administration of HR.
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, helping to drive positive people outcomes, support organisational change and contribute to the ongoing development of company culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day HR activities across the business.
- Provide expert guidance and support on employee relations matters, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance cases.
- Partner with managers and senior leaders to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice.
- Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures and redundancy programmes where required.
- Review, develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and documentation.
- Manage contractual changes, employment documentation and HR correspondence.
- Oversee employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, development and offboarding.
- Maintain and improve HR systems, records and employee data.
- Support initiatives that promote employee engagement, culture and organisational effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Contribute to wider business projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We're looking for a confident and credible HR professional who thrives in a standalone environment and enjoys balancing strategic input with hands-on delivery.
You will ideally have:
- Previous broad generalist HR experience.
- Experience operating within an SME environment supporting a workforce of 30+ employees.
- Previous experience in a standalone HR role or as part of a small HR team.
- Strong employee relations experience and sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and redundancies.
- A track record of influencing, coaching and advising managers and senior leaders.
- Experience contributing to or supporting culture change initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A pragmatic, adaptable and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent practical HR experience.
Desirable
- Experience of office management or workplace operations.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and compliance.
What's on Offer
- The opportunity to take full ownership of the HR function within a growing business.
- Exposure to senior leadership and the ability to influence people strategy.
- A varied role combining strategic projects with day-to-day HR delivery.
- Supportive, collaborative and professional working environment.
- 25 days annual leave
- Dog friendly office
- Private Medical
If you're an experienced HR generalist who enjoys working autonomously, building strong relationships and making a genuine impact within a growing organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
