One of our favourite clients in the City of London is looking for a Financial Controller to join their London team. They are a UK based property company that is part of a large, profitable, and growing U.S. company, so it is an exciting time to join. You will be tasked with managing a newly structured finance team that is solidifying its foundation for long term growth. JOB TITLE: Financial Controller

  • Work with the International Controller and the Senior Financial Accountant to manage, influence, and optimise the accounting operations within the finance department

  • Assist with special projects both UK and Internationally

  • Create and adhere to scalable processes with strong controls

  • Juggle multiple priorities across a number of projects and business as usual activites

  • Manage the UK accounting operations directly managing, coaching and mentoring the UK accounting team.

  • Manage the team and support UK and EU AP, invoicing, and credit processing

  • Ensuring month-end close is completed, reviewing with team and completing within business allocated timeframes

  • Accounting supervisory - maintain financial reports, records, and General Ledger accounts

  • Achieving deliverables within processing and reporting deadlines and assisting the wider international team as needed

  • Assisting with quarterly VAT returns

  • Assisting with business rates processing and liaising with commercial Real Estate Partners

  • Liaise with Lease Administration Team to process and manage Landlord Payments and assist with building requirements

  • Manage vendor relationships and maintain Vendor master data in ERP

  • Maintain customer-centric approach and provide top tier customer service (both internally and externally); ensuring central accounting inboxes are monitored and responded to and managed appropriately, ensuring speedy and efficient communication for all internal and external partners

  • Manage responses to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assist with audits

  • Drive projects/process improvements through to completion with limited guidance, leveraging resources available as needed; make a case to ask for what you need to meet your goals

  • Supervise the daily activities of the finance department and guarantee an efficient internal control system.


  • Fully qualified ACCA, CIMA (or by experience) is essential

  • Financial systems experience - knowledge of Oracle Accounting/Coupa AP systems is a plus but not essential

  • Experience as a Financial Controller in a senior level position managing a team in a growing business is essential

  • Able to prioritise and lead finance team

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills

  • Good problem-solving and time management skills

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
