Receptionist Duties and responsibilities

You would be expected to handle various duties and responsibilities. Some key basic responsibilities are as listed below:

  • To welcome visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.

  • To direct visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions.

  • To maintain security by following procedures; monitoring logbook; issuing visitor badges.

  • To maintain a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • To maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • To contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Good at developing data collection and presentation systems for aspects such as attendance and progress

  • Able to deal with concerned or distressed parents in a calm and supportive manner

  • Able to support with ad hoc duties in a setting run with a team approach such as giving first aid, supporting on a special outings or covering a lunch duty if a staff member were unwell

  • Ordering goods from providers whilst remaining within school allocated budgets

  • Working with the health and safety officer, fire Marshall and SLT to ensure drills happen, and maintenance is booked
