Temporary Finance Assistant / Officer - Enhanced Child DBS Required

Tooting, Office Based

£14 - £16 per hour DOE

Ongoing for 4 weeks (opportunity to be extended)

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant / Officer to join their team. The Finance Assistant is expected to work closely with the finance team to ensure the smooth financial operation of the school and will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in all financial transactions. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this position.

Daily Duties include:

  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with school financial policies.

  • Record and categorise financial transactions in the accounting system.

  • Prepare financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Generate financial reports for school management and external stakeholders.

  • Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.

  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during reconciliation.

  • Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records and documents.

  • Assist with the retention and disposal of financial records in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Perform general administrative tasks related to finance, including data entry, filing, and responding to financial inquiries.

  • A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.

  • Previous experience in finance or accounting is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and budget management.

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
