We are working on an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Assistant Board Secretary to work for one of the UK's biggest sports charities.
The Strategy & Secretariat team is at the heart of senior decision making, responsible for the development, implementation and measuring progress of strategy. The small Secretariat team supports the effective functioning of key decision-making bodies, including the Board, its Committees, and the Executive Team.
JOB TITLE: Assistant Board Secretary - Must have experience taking minutes
JOB TYPE: Temporary

HOURS: Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 (1 hour lunch)
DURATION: 2 Months, may be extended
SALARY: £18 p/h
LOCATION: Initially based from home, may be required to attend the office in central London if COVID-19 restrictions are lifted

Key Responsibilities:
- In this role you will provide high quality support for the Executive Team, Board, Committees, and subsidiaries
- Your role will be to take the lead in the preparation for meetings, including briefing Chairs
- Support for Committees including the preparation and distribution of meeting packs, meeting logistics (catering, attendance etc)
- Writing minutes and monitoring progress against decisions and actions
- Reviewing and updating key administrative records for Boards and Committees of both the client and its subsidiary companies
- Forward business planners including the Corporate Calendar
- Reviewing and updating templates and guidance
- Processing Board and Committee Members expenses
Key skills:
- Previous Board Secretary / Governance Secretary experience (or similar level experience)
- Excellent organisation skills including the ability to prioritise, schedule and coordinate activity to meet deadline
- Experience of effectively managing relationships with non-executives and senior staff (or evidence of strong communication and relationship management skills)
- Experience of minuting high-level meetings and decision-making (or evidence of ability to rapidly assimilate, summarise and synthesize complex discussions)
- Experience of drafting and editing reports and business cases (or evidence of good written communication skills in equivalent fields
- Integrity and proven ability to keep highly sensitive information confidential
- Intermediate MS Office skills
Desirable:
- Experience supporting boards and committees
- A good working knowledge of corporate governance and best practice in this field
