This rare opportunity will suit a HR Specialist who has specialised in talent acquisition & development in house, an L&D specialist or HR Advisor. In return you will manage stakeholders, design and deliver creative and engaging people solutions and put your stamp on the people.

With over 160 years + experience in the eye health care sector, my client is looking for a HR practitioner who can offer a commitment of 9 months on a fixed term contract with a chance to gain strong and valuable experience.

Key priorities and experience required:

  • Competing for Talent; small but effective and often have hybrid roles

  • Showcasing Career development both internally and externally

  • Identifying and nurturing early talent within the business (career planning discussions)

  • L&D discussions with line managers (i.e., learning needs analysis, training needs, how to hold effective performance conversations)

  • Partner Head of HR/ Business on L&D design, delivery or sourcing

  • Promoting our eLearning System

  • Improving the onboarding process/ experience to improve staff retention

  • Creation of engaging onboarding packs and recruitment co-ordination from raising POs to new hire co-ordination/ Inductions


  • Liaise with managers to understand their recruitment needs, internal replacement opportunities and co-ordinate the recruitment team to source, prepare and undertake the recruitment process.

  • Manage the relationship with recruitment agencies in terms of cost, delivery and quality and identify appropriate channels for sourcing talent.

  • Ensure that the correct standards are maintained in terms of job accountabilities, person specification, job advertisement, interviews and testing are maintained.

  • Ensure the best candidate experience is delivered through the recruitment process and in partnership with line managers and HR team to ensure that onboarding is delivered for the smooth transition into employment.

  • Own, develop and maintain career journeys to ensure that career options are clear and transparent to colleagues

  • Provide people managers coaching and advice when necessary whilst driving best practice across the organisation that ensures compliance with talent / people policies, procedures and values.

  • Respond to HR queries in mailbox, onboarding co-ordination and administration, contribute as a team member to development of projects or initiatives like DE&I, Employee Engagement, EVP, Recognition, Total Reward and Wellbeing.

Must haves:

  • CIPD qualification level 5 or more

  • Bags of energy with a can-do attitude

  • Proactive, organised, curiosity, team player, pragmatic, creative

  • Strong communicator and thrives on finding solutions and can connect the dots.

Desirable: Knowledge of agile working, overseeing projects, Degree educated
