Are you an expert in high profile public affairs and events and able to take lead?


This role leads the development and delivery of the organisation's signature events in sustainable finance. Primarily these events include UN COP meetings and an annual "Net Zero Delivery Summit". In this role you will be deciding what needs to be delivered in order to achieve strategic objectives and then develop project plans for engagements/events that detail delivery timelines, required resources, potential sponsorship/partnership targets etc. You will also identify, lead outreach with, and on-board sponsors/partners needed to deliver successful events/engagements. This is the perfect role for someone with experience in running high profile events with influential people and an interest in sustainable finance objectives.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE TO:



  • Manage and lead the delivery of all aspects of signature company engagements/events on sustainable finance

  • Perform regular scanning for emerging opportunities where the wider work of company on sustainable finance can be profiled. Pro-actively pitch ideas internally on a regular basis and then execute their delivery where approved.

  • Play a substantial role in articulating a compelling long-term vision for high-impact, well-delivered engagements/events on sustainable finance. Keep overview of engagement/ events on sustainable finance and identify synergies.

  • Sponsor liaison - identification of suitable partners, outreach, negotiation, on-boarding, management/first point of contact as engagement/event is delivered.

  • Speaker liaison (invites, briefings, prep calls) - bringing in colleagues where necessary to ensure speaker engagement is as informed as possible with available expertise.

  • Briefing lead (internal and external) - e.g., ensuring company 'Principals' (such as the Lord Mayor) are always clear on their role(s) across engagement/event.

  • Internal coordinator responsible for securing input from colleagues - internal and external - to ensure effective delivery of the project.

  • Support delivery of any collateral associated with engagement/event - especially from a communications/marketing perspective. In collaboration with internal Media and Marketing teams.

  • Lead on all internal comms - ensuring the wider company team is kept abreast of developments associated with key events/engagements.

  • Preparing effective 'wrap-ups' following engagements/events - both written and via presentations - that capture what was achieved, how, and what comes next.

  • Secretariat support for any committees established as part of engagement/event (e.g., production of agendas and other papers, ensuring timely follow-up on actions, providing briefings for international stakeholders)

  • Represent the company on relevant sector groups run by third party organisations on sustainable finance

  • Monitor and report budget positions on a regular basis as required, including alerting the Line Manager and Chamberlains representative of any significant budget variance in a timely manner and taking appropriate corrective action.


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:



  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant field

  • Sound knowledge of financial and professional services and the latest developments in the field of sustainability.

    • An appreciation and understanding of the key trends within sustainable financial and professional services - e.g., net zero transition planning, voluntary carbon markets, pricing nature and biodiversity.

    • A good understanding of how different global initiatives such as the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Markets (IC-VCM) are driving the wider sustainability agenda.

    • Good knowledge and understanding of the wider 'COP' process and key milestones/deliverables associated with it.



  • Ability to think strategically and proactively identify and realise opportunities for programmes of events and engagement that advance the organisation's objectives in respect of sustainable finance

  • Ability to successfully plan and deliver high quality high profile events which align with the organisation's goals and objectives on sustainable finance.

  • Highly skilled communicator with the ability to write concise briefings, reports and detailed correspondence for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on the development of strategies and proposals for events in the field of sustainable finance.

  • Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to advise Members, senior officers and key external stakeholders in a compelling fashion on the development and delivery of events in respect of sustainable finance

  • Demonstrable ability to engage and establish productive relationships with a range of senior stakeholders in politics and business on sustainable finance in order to progress organisational objectives in this field.

  • Good IT skills and an ability to use them to keep on top of project actions/deliverable in a timely and transparent manner.

  • Ability to use key Microsoft Office systems competently, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to use key technologies that support CRM - e.g. City Dynamics

  • Significant professional experience in a role scoping, planning and delivering large, high-profile events which further organisational strategies and objectives, preferably with involvement from HM Government and the media.

  • Experience of developing strategies for events and engagement programmes with key internal and external stakeholders in support of organisational objectives.

  • Significant experience of leading meetings, engaging and influencing senior partners within business and other external organisations with a range of agendas, uniting and engaging them around a common goal
