Site & Data Modelling Engineer

Office Angels have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a Site & Data Modelling Engineer to join a well-established company. The successful candidate will have a degree (or will be working towards a degree) in Engineering or Physics (MSc), but other relevant technical background will be considered.


This is a full-time fixed term role (4 months) based in Edinburgh City Centre - hours of work are Monday to Friday - 9am-5pm.


Travel to construction sites and construction ports may be required and therefore it is essential you have your own means of transport.


Key responsibilities:



  • Management of project dashboards and construction progress reports in Microsoft Power BI.

  • Analysis of data and running Daily Progress Reports

  • Monitoring and maintenance of construction data source

  • Analysis of offshore works data

  • Correlation of offshore construction activities with site and weather data

  • Programming in house codes as required

  • Support the management of data supply including weather forecasting and wave buoy data measurement and transmission

  • Management and processing of site metocean data

  • Assessment of weather down times for the offshore activities

  • Support the planning of offshore works by providing up to date metocean data and assessments


Key skills:



  • Excellent attention to detail

  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong numerical skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

  • Understanding of instrumentation used in site and metocean data gathering would be considered an advantage (e.g. wave/current sensors, wave radar, anemometers, LIDAR, etc).

  • Proficient user in Microsoft Office Excel; familiarity with Microsoft PowerBI would be beneficial

  • Basic knowledge of Matlab, statistical methods and programming languages (e.g. C+, python) is preferred but not essential
