Role Overview:



  • Office location: Gateshead, conveniently located with excellent transport links and free on-site parking

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM, hybrid/remote. This role offers a hybrid work model, with a minimum of one day in the office per month for a team day, following training.

  • Salary: £25,000 - £30,000, negotiable depending on experience


Due to the urgency of this position, our client is open to considering both temporary and permanent arrangements based on availability and notice period. Immediate availability or a short notice period would be advantageous for this role.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Assist and complete project budgets/costing, variance reports, and forecasts.

  • Manage income requests, invoicing, and debtor review.

  • Complete monthly reports.

  • Process VAT returns.

  • Preparing management accounts.

  • Oversee bank reconciliations and other bank/cash/credit card accounts.

  • Liaise with managers and other colleagues to ensure effective financial reporting.

  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to improve financial processes.

  • Assist with the month-end and quarterly review and adjustments working closely with the wider management teams.

  • Providing support to the finance team and other departments as needed.

  • Continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the finance function, as well as developing and implementing internal controls and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy, and training and mentoring junior staff members.


Essential Requirements:



  • Proficiency in accounting process routines, including reconciliations.

  • Experience in management accounts reporting and analysis.

  • Knowledge of payroll processes.

  • Familiarity with online technology solutions.

  • Proficient user of Office 365, including Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


Desirable Experience:



  • Previous experience working within the charity or voluntary sector.
