School Receptionist

Are you looking for a challenging, yet rewarding role? Can you multi-task and remain calm under pressure? I am looking for an experienced School Receptionist to work in a school based in Sunderland, on a temporary on-going contract.

My client is based in Sunderland and is looking for a full time Administrator/Receptionist to join their business support team, on a temporary basis. This is an amazing opportunity to join a school where you really are at the heart of it all. The face of the business and the first person all school visitors will see. Above all, this is a role that you can make your own!

Working hours: Mon - Friday 8am - 4.00pm, 30-minute lunch. Salary: £18'500. This role is to start ASAP, therefore please only apply if you can be available to start work immediately! This role could continue longer term for the right candidate.

For this role, it is highly beneficial if you have experience of using SIMS and have an Enhanced DBS, and/or are on the update service.



  • Face of the school and first point of contact to all visitors, pupils and staff

  • Answering incoming calls

  • Taking and passing on messages

  • Making outgoing calls to parents on request

  • Meeting and greeting all visitors, pupils, and parents

  • Signing visitors in and out, issuing visitor passes

  • Arranging meeting rooms

  • Updating on-line diary, making appointments on request


  • Main point of contact for all staff

  • Attendance

  • All general school office administration

  • Scanning, filing, photocopying documents

  • Typing of letters and various word documents

Other requirements:

  • Resilience!!

  • Previous experience within a school (preferred)

  • Previous experience of working within a busy and challenging environment

  • The ability to discreetly handle sensitive and confidential information

  • Word and Excel - Essential

  • Impeccable spelling and grammar - Essential

  • Outstanding telephone manner - Essential

  • The ability to remain calm in stressful, high pressure situations - Essential

This role will suit a candidate who can remain calm and levelheaded at all times.

This is a term time only role, which means while on a temporary contract holiday entitlement is accrued via Office Angels. Therefore, holiday accrual will need to be saved in order to be paid out for half term periods.

An Enhanced DBS will be carried out for this role, via Office Angels.
