JOB TITLE: School HR Administrator - Immediate Start


LOCATION: Minehead, Somerset


SALARY: £18,827 - £21,778 (DOE)


HOURS: Monday - Friday, (40 hours per week, all year round)

We are recruiting for a well-organised and motivated Administrator to join a highly reputable school in Minehead, initially on a temporary basis with the view to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful candidate must have strong administration skills with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently. You will be joining a close knit team, working within a fun and positive environment where every day is different.


As part of the Administration Team the work you do impacts all areas of the organisation, especially HR, Finance and Payroll. You are therefore expected to work collaboratively, professionally and effectively with all areas of the organisation as appropriate.


Key responsibilities are:


Business and Administration Duties:



  • Support the Finance assistant with the review of utility suppliers, such as telephone, gas and electricity contracts, for best value plus monitoring of the accounts and addressing any problems/issues that arise

  • Inputting and retrieving data using the school's databases and systems

  • Working alongside the Transition Coordinator to ensure appropriate DBS checks have been carried out for external work experience providers and students as required

  • Attending and participating in all appropriate meetings where directed, invited, delegated or otherwise scheduled, as being relevant to the post

  • Assisting with any other general administrative duties that may be required by the Business Manager


Payroll duties:



  • Co-ordination of data and reports and completion of all actions for the monthly payroll submissions to the Central Payroll team. Ensuring the correct checks and authorisations have been made and data is submitted on time

  • Liaising with Central Functions as appropriate to answer on site queries relating to PAYE, SSP, SMP and Pensions


Recruitment and HR duties:



  • Liaising with the Central Recruitment Team to ensure the prompt action of all recruitment and staff on boarding activities, assisting with ad hoc tasks as required to support the recruitment process

  • Overseeing and supporting the administration of new staff including creating new personnel files and inputting data onto the internal HR database, including qualifications, and training completed and required

  • Overseeing and supporting all HR administration activities following the on-boarding process and throughout the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to job changes, promotions, annual salary review

  • Support Team Leaders to manage sickness absence issues effectively in line with the related policies, and HR best practice, to minimise sickness absence levels and maximise employee well being

  • Oversee the monitoring of staff training and ensuring all staff have qualifications and training appropriate to their role, and that termly staff training schedules involving both internal and external training providers are completed

  • To support the Business Manager in overseeing the appraisal process and liaise with the Central Training Team to research training opportunities based on training need requests.


The successful candidate must have strong IT skills, along with high attention to detail and prior experience minute taking. You will need to be able to multi-task and priorities your work load.
