JOB TITLE: School Finance Administrator - Immediate Start


LOCATION: Bridgwater, Somerset


HOURLY RATE: £10.00 per hour


HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm (term time, plus 8 additional days)

THE ROLE: We are recruiting for a highly organised and experienced Finance Administrator to join a friendly and welcoming School based in Bridgwater who are well known for maintaining a good quality of education. This role is being offered as a Maternity cover until December 2022, initially temping through Office Angels therefore you must be available immediately or on a short notice period.


Key responsibilities will include:



  • Processing and despatching orders for all goods on behalf of budget holders, on receipt of internal requisition forms

  • Ensuring that BACS payments are only produced on the due date to gain maximum interest on bank balances

  • Receiving and checking deliveries against orders

  • Advising budget holders on use of suppliers, discounts available

  • Run monthly budget holder reports and distribute to the Heads of Departments

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date computerised records, accounts and other records in respect of Schools' finances

  • Assisting with trip payments/reconciliation

  • Journal work including School charge card reconciliations; department photocopying/printing recharges

  • Preparing income received for banking

  • Receiving and checking money collected on a daily basis (eg trips, sponsored events, exam fees etc) and ensure it is correctly recorded

  • Other administration duties to ensure smooth running of the department


The successful candidate must have strong administration and finance skills, ideally within an educational setting as you will be required to have an understanding of the importance of safeguarding. You will need to be computer literate along with having a professional telephone manner, high attention to detail and strong communication skills.

An enhanced DBS will be required prior to commencing employment. If you have a recent DBS or are subscribed to the update service this would be desirable, however a full DBS check can be completed prior to the role commencing.
