Do you have the drive, passion, and commitment to deliver outstanding business support? Office Angels currently have an opportunity for a School Business Manager to join a dedicated team of staff at a local school in Newcastle, who are committed to providing the best possible education for pupils.

The desired candidate will have previous experience of working within a school office, in either a Business Support Officer or School Business Manager role.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a local school, in a busy and extremely rewarding role.

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • 37 hours per week (term time only plus 5 training days and 10 additional days)

  • Salary: £35000 (Pro rata - £32,711)

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working within Education, with the ability to manage, lead and motivate a team.

Site, Premises, Grounds, Health & Safety

  • Facility & Property and Health & Safety Management; maintaining policies, procedures, upkeep and smooth running of school premises and assets

  • Manage and monitor pre-planned and reactive maintenance schedules and contracts

  • Management of COSHH

  • Ensure ancillary services e.g. catering, cleaning, etc., are managed and monitored effectively, in line with specific policies, health & safety requirements, school food standards, nutritional standards and allergen compliance

  • Ensure compliant Fire and Evacuation plans are in place and reviewed regularly

Data, Administration & Finance:

  • To manage the administration teams to ensure the efficient and effective operations

  • Provide support to the Headteacher in discreet and highly confidential matters

  • To administer the complaints process until resolution

  • Records management in line with ICO guidance, GDPR compliance and school policy

  • Raising of purchase requisitions and orders

  • Ensure all visitors are checked and comply with safeguarding regulation and DBS register is managed according to safeguarding requirements

  • Main contact for any high profile stakeholders

  • Main contact for any school based operating systems

  • Management of Administration of medications and First Aid requirements

Human Resources & Personnel

  • Line management responsibilities where appropriate including recruitment, induction, performance management and ongoing training/upskilling of staff

  • To manage and record the day to day absence, LOA administration and other general staffing matters including but not limited to annual leave entitlements and monitoring working time commitments

  • To act as Cover Manager utilising MIS and line management of Cover Supervisors

  • To complete occupational health referrals supported by HR Manager

  • Arrange suitable levels of training for staff for Site Staff, Catering Staff, Fire Wardens, First Aid and Administration of Medication
