JOB TITLE: Risk Manager

COMPANY: Government regulatory body

CONTRACT: Permanent

HOURS: 9.00am - 5:00pm

SALARY: £44,000-£60,000


LOCATION: The West End

CULTURE: Large medical regulatory body that has an influential say in the UK. Reporting to the Head of Business Planning and Reporting and working closely with the Assistant Director of Audit and Risk Assurance as well as the wider company who are a group of affable personalities who value integrity, collaboration and transparency.


  • To maintain the company's risk management framework, identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Working with all teams on risk training, embedding best practice and raising awareness of their responsibilities under the risk management framework

  • Dealing with Adhoc queries in regards to escalating potential risks as well as identification and strategy, local source of expertise on risk and opportunity management

  • To maintain reporting of risks and opportunities through written reports and verbal presentations to the Senior Management Team, Audit and Risk Committee and Council

  • Applying the relevant management systems, procedures and policies relating to staff management, staff well-being, risk management, health and safety, information security and business continuity

  • Creating an inclusive environment, ensuring equality and diversity is considered in policy and practices relevant to the role


  • Qualification and/or certification in an area of risk management would be an advantage but not essential

  • Ability to use MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiently and creatively

  • To interact, collaborate and communicate effectively with key internal and external contacts at all levels, a high standard of written communication skills is essential

  • The intellectual and analytical skills to understand the complex issues around medical regulation, coupled with the ability to identify risks and think strategically and to generate creative and practical solutions

  • Ability to co-ordinate and produce management information and/or budgets

  • Requires a level of confidence, personability and credibility

  • Proven experience providing clear guidance and support to staff, and the ability to provide constructive and effective feedback to both junior and senior individuals
