JOB TITLE: Product Owner (Agricultural / farming background)

LOCATION: Glastonbury, Somerset. You must live locally but the role will involve a mixture of office and home based working.

SALARY: Competitive Salary dependant on experience discussed on application.

HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:30am till 5:00pm

THE ROLE: Based in the heart of Somerset, you will be joining a small, friendly and ambitious team with the added bonus of working in their beautiful grade 2 listed offices with views over farmland. This company is a leading business who specialise in providing technical services to the agricultural and farming industry. Our client are developing their on-line reporting services to facilitate further integration of data from a variety of sources and provide insight to customers. This new role will take ownership of a key project, delivering services within the group.


Tasks will include:

  • Involvement in the full cycle of development from concept of ideas, through to launch of updated product.

  • Plan requirements and coordinate IT development resources for the project.

  • Supporting others in the team to properly understand the requirements from clients and formulate an effective, robust and secure data solution.

  • Providing a detailed specification to the developers, including key requirements within the user interface.

  • Working with colleagues, write SQL to transform data and implement complex calculations.

  • Thoroughly testing applications, providing detailed feedback to the developers.


  • Experience coordinating data focused development projects, with a track-record of delivering high quality solutions in a timely fashion.

  • Excellent organisational skills, together with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work with clients to understand the true requirements.

  • Experience of relational databases. The ability to use SQL Server to develop and run queries would be an advantage.

  • Extensive experience using Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving, with an appetite for progress.

  • An analytical mindset, with exceptional attention to detail, numeracy and data analysis skills.

  • An interest or background in agriculture is preferred.

  • Relevant academic qualifications, preferably to degree level.

  • A good team player also having the initiative, motivation and drive to work on their own.
