PHP Web Developer (Graduate Opportunity)

OB TITLE: PHP Developer (Graduate Opportunity)

LOCATION: Exeter and home based the successful candidate would need to work in Exeter 1 day a week minimum

SALARY: £20,000-30,000 - Dependant on experience

HOURS: Full Time 37.5 hours

THE ROLE: Working in conjunction with the Developer, your role will be to advance and support the bespoke web applications for the company's use.


  • Writing clean, fast PHP to a high standard, in a timely and scalable

  • Develop internal software developments and databases, flagging risks and issues to the IT & Operations Manager and Developer as appropriate.

  • Ensuring software developments within the company are working efficiently

  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle

  • Integrate software components and third-party programs

  • Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live

  • Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications

  • Presenting ideas for system improvements

  • Determining operational practicality

  • Liaison with suppliers and contractors where appropriate

  • Developing quality assurance procedures

  • Deploying software tools, processes and metrics

  • Maintaining and upgrading existing systems

  • Preparation and production of training for users, including training materials

  • Provide comprehensive support to internal staff

  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry

  • Compile timely, comprehensive and accurate documentation and or reports as requested

  • Achieve resolution to outstanding problems or issues

  • Working closely with other developers where required

  • Attend meetings in person and via video call across offices


The company are flexible on the background of the candidate and will consider a graduate as well as a more expereinced individual. The salary would be reflective of experience.

  • Strong skills as a PHP developer or strong educational background relevant to the role

  • Knowledge and interest in computer systems and the latest technologies

  • An analytical mind

  • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude

  • Knowledge of coding languages (e.g. JavaScript, PHP) and frameworks / systems (e.g. GIT)

  • MySQL experience

  • The ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues

  • Commercial and business awareness

  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal

  • Attention to detail and desire to probe further into data
