Overview


The Business Support & Communications Manager has two main functions; organising and recording the Alliance Management Team (AMT) activity, and collation of internal and external messages and communications to enable AMT to effectively coordinate and function within the Client, Alliance, Member and Customer arenas. They will act as the principal point of contact for central coordination between the AMT and other bodies, ensuring the correct notifications and advisory messages are issued and checking compliance with requests. They will be primarily based in the UKPN Head Office in Southwark, London.


Accountabilities



  • Operating as a central point of contact for the AMT

  • Maintaining and updating a combined meeting diary for the AMT

  • Recording proceedings at AMT meetings and coordinating inputs and outputs

  • Administration of central AMT communications within the team

  • Production and collation of content for newsletters, magazines, posters and web pages

  • Obtaining requisite approvals for publication of communications prior to issue

  • Drafting, formatting and production of written, web and presentation communications

  • Engagement with Communication Managers, both internal and external

  • Adherence to corporate identity and communications guidelines of the various partners

  • Keeping all Alliance members informed via the AMT of the communications pipeline

  • Production of campaign and publicity ideas and initiatives

  • Management and participation in presentation and training sessions

  • Organising Alliance and member communication events, presentations and briefing

  • Coordinating Alliance applications for industry awards

  • Ensuring consistency of communications governance across UKPN and Alliance members

  • Assistance and engagement with internal and external community and marketing events

Knowledge & key skills


Essential:



  • A great ability to coordinate across multiple team members

  • Accurate record keeping of AMT meetings

  • An exceptional organiser and persuader

  • Skilled in use of Microsoft software, especially Office applications and Sharepoint.

  • Excellent written and oral English language skills

  • Must be capable of maintaining wide stakeholder engagement


i.e. able to 'get on' and communicate with people at all levels



  • Organisation of their workload to work both alone and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines

  • Copywriting and editing of communications submissions from multiple sources



Desirable



  • An understanding of communications channels and their impacts

  • Knowledge of desktop publishing, especially Adobe InDesign

  • Knowledge of industry and construction terminology

  • A communications qualification (advantageous but not essential)

  • Able to travel to locations in the South and East of England
