Monday - Friday 8.30-4.30pm

My client, a friendly school based in Hornchurch, is looking for a Management Accountant to join their busy team. You will be working closely with the leadership team to support the Financial Controller, responsible for financial management, planning and transactional support across all 3 sites.


Responsibilities include:



  • Development and preparation of annual budgets and forecasts

  • Producing monthly reports

  • Holding regular meetings to review financial performance

  • Preparing income and expenditure reports and balance sheets

  • Preparing accounts for submission to auditors

  • Assisting in the preparation for the annual audit

  • Maintaining a complete, accurate and tidy purchase order system ensuring all invoices comply with the procurement policy

  • Maintaining and overseeing all bank accounts including credit cards, completing monthly reconciliations

  • Preparing and maintaining monthly reconciliations for all control accounts

  • Reviewing, controlling and reconciling sales and purchase ledgers

  • Ownership of trial balance ensuring completeness and accuracy

  • Preparing cashflow projections and all elements of cash handling including collections and disbursements

  • Be responsible for the completion of payroll, ensuring all forms including timesheets, new starter/leaver/variations are correctly authorised and submitted

  • Carrying out and keeping analyses of costs and other statistical information

  • Maintaining all insurances in all forms including assessments, claims and administration

  • Maintaining a list of approved contractors and suppliers to ensure best value

  • Managing, negotiate and monitor all contracts, leases and relationships with external contractors

  • Posting all invoices received and preparing payment runs, including the sending remittances and subsequent filing of all purchase invoices

  • Responsibility for the uploading of bank statements, posting of bank transactions and reconciling the bank account to the ledger

  • Posting all journals, to include the monthly payroll journals, intracompany journals

  • Assisting with ad hoc projects as required
