We have a rare opportunity available with an independent, local law firm who are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their established Private Client Department.

JOB TITLE: Legal Assistant (Graduate Opportunity)


LOCATION: Totnes


HOURS: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9am - 5pm)


SALARY: Dependent on experience

THE ROLE: You will provide secretarial support to the fee earner and will be on hand to assist with a wide variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department. Responsibilities might include:



  • Providing admin support to the partner and team

  • Ensuring client records and files are up to date

  • Faxing, photocopying and scanning

  • Filing and archiving

  • Typing and audiotyping of fee earner notes, records and correspondence

  • Gathering data for files, opening and closing files

  • Preparing and producing documents

  • Liaising with clients and dealing with client enquiries

  • Booking client appointments and arranging meetings

  • Management of team diary and appointments

  • Answering the phones

  • General ad hoc admin tasks


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:



  • Strong computer and typing skills

  • Someone who is confident at managing multiple tasks at one time

  • Someone who can demonstrate a flexible and can do approach to work

  • A professional and polite telephone manner

  • Experience in providing excellent client or customer service

  • A team player
