Job Title: IT Systems Engineer


Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 pa


Location: Croydon



Our client is looking for a suitable candidate to join their small team based in Croydon. You will be helping to provide and support IT systems for small businesses.


You will ideally have previous experience in costing, configuring, implementing and supporting a variety of systems and have worked in a 2nd/3rd line Support environment on a Helpdesk. You must be articulate, confident and quick to learn new technologies and software systems.


As they are a small company, there may be opportunities to be involved in other aspects of the business. Most of the time, you'll be based in their office and however there will be opportunities for visiting customers to perform support work and installations.



Your Responsibilities will include:



  • First, second and third line helpdesk, including taking an issue forward to further stages where required

  • Helping to formulate quotations and costs for products and services

  • Researching and recommending products for customers

  • Testing new products and technologies

  • Consulting, quoting and implementing IT solutions

  • Logging support queries and keeping asset management records up to date

  • Helping to design and implement IT solutions for businesses

  • Helping to install and configure networks and IT services for businesses

  • Troubleshooting and resolving computer workstation, server and network faults

  • Installing and configuring desktop and server software

  • Performing server-side systems administration tasks such as adding users, changing passwords etc.

  • Most support work is undertaken remotely and over the telephone, although on-site work is sometimes required.



Key Skills and Experience Required:



  • Server networking (DHCP, DNS, RRAS, TCP/IP)

  • Experience with Hypervisors (specifically Hyper-V)

  • Firewalling and switching (Port number, routing, network fault diagnosis)

  • Remote working (RRAS, VPN, RDP)

  • Customer service mind-set

  • Analytical skills

  • Ability to follow process and to work under pressure

  • Great attention to detail

  • Effective communicator

  • Problem solving

  • Backup regime best practices, implementation and diagnostics

  • Exchange/Office365 & Azure

  • Effective Time Management skills

  • Integrity/Teamwork

  • Self-motivated training and development

  • Printer support (network printing, all common troubleshooting)
