IT Business Analyst

You will be responsible to specify, organise and deliver enhancements to the company's operational systems to improve business performance. You will ensure that the business divisions are fully up-to-date with systems and processes and works closely with the in-house Development, Marketing, Front line and Systems teams.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the bridge between the business and the IT department

  • Research system behaviour, assess current capabilities, identify strategic and operational improvements and work to implement those improvements

  • Deliver subject matter expertise to the branch network and Head Office departments, operating as a point of escalation for the definition of current and desired system behaviour

  • Understand of the needs of the business and translate those needs to the relevant members of the IT department

  • Test and deliver enhancements into business operations

  • Facilitate and manage user requirements eliciting further information where necessary

  • Work closely with and direct the Development team in order to create effective solutions to business requirements

  • Document and communicate the changes so there is a record of system operation and enhancement

  • Investigate and analyse business activities in order to understand where improvements or system changes can be made

  • Elicit and understand complex or unclear requirements, investigating user needs to uncover assumptions and ensure that proposed functionality meets expectations

  • Consider and document the opportunities and potential risks attached to suggested improvements

  • Identify the processes and procedures required to introduce the necessary recommendations

  • Effectively release and communicate new functionality to users in order to address any uncertainty or concern

  • Compile the relevant documentation to obtain approval from senior management in order to acquire sign off

  • Translate requirements into effective briefing documentation and communicate with the Development team to establish the complexity and effort in order to determine timeframes for delivery

  • Support stakeholders and users during the change process addressing any queries and providing background information to validate suggestions

  • Communicate with stakeholders by setting and managing expectations and confirming the effectiveness of proposed solutions

  • Work effectively with stakeholders and Development team to ensure that approved solutions are running within pre-agreed timeframes

  • Oversee or administer user acceptance testing (UAT) on any new process, procedure or functionality changes and provide feedback accordingly

  • Promote Agile development methods for prioritisation, task allocation and delivery

Professional Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven success in writing briefing specifications and conducting training both individually and in groups with minimal supervision

  • Understanding of database and systems management

  • Ability to work to tight and conflicting deadlines

  • Able to prioritise tasks and monitor progress

  • Previous experience in anticipating problems and responding to unforeseen changes

  • Demonstrable record in building and managing strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and third party suppliers.
