Job Title: Investment Manager Assistant


Location: Exeter


Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week, full time


Salary: £23,000-£26,000 DOE, plus discretionary bonus

The Role: The Investment Manager Assistant will work as part of the busy Investment Management department assisting the Investment Managers, in a team of 8 in the Exeter branch of this financial planning company. This is a non-regulated position, supporting the managers across a wide range of administrative and organisational tasks.


You will be confident in providing high standards of support assisting in the administration of client records and investment portfolios, handling client queries, and liaising with other departments across the business. You will be happy at juggling a variety of duties, often multitasking and excellent at prioritising your workload.


Day to day tasks include:



  • Providing a full range of administrative services for the team.



  • To assist with all aspects of opening and maintaining client accounts, including obtaining AML documentation.

  • Keeping client information up to date and assisting in the production of client suitability reports, communicating directly with clients, solicitors and accountants.

  • To follow the progress of new investments, and to follow up any problems/issues which may arise.

  • To liaise with the accounts department over cash movements, administer payments, including currency payments.

  • Setting up, closing and managing client files, ensuring all information is up to date and accurate.

  • Welcome clients and visitors to the office in a courteous manner, showing them into the allocated meeting room and offering and preparing refreshments.

  • Assisting Investment Manager's in the production and editing of investment reviews.

  • To manage occasional special projects

  • Processing the outgoing/in coming DX and Royal Mail.

  • Preparing documentation required for meetings, and for potential new clients

  • Setting up new clients or upgrading clients, checking the documentation and ensuring all relevant information is attached in order for IM to write review.

  • Ensuring valuations are produced and despatched to clients within regulatory timescales.

  • Subject to qualifications and relevant experience:

    • Assist with the preparation of client reports.

    • Provide input in recommendations for switches.

    • Implement transactions (buys and sells), as well as CGT calculations and valuations history.

    • XO dealing as instructed.



  • Review systems and processes as well as provide training to new team members.


About You



  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent level including Maths and English.

  • CISI Investment Operations Certificate.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.

  • Experience of working in an Office environment is preferable.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Highly organised, and numerate.

  • The ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

  • A high degree of initiative is expected in relation to problem solving and identifying and taking on tasks that need to be completed.

  • A strong team player. The role involves supporting a number of Investment Managers and having the flexibility to adapt to their particular styles of working is key.

  • Good IT skills with a knowledge of Excel and Word.

  • An enthusiastic, 'can-do' attitude, combined with a personable manner and good sense of humour.
