Human Resources Manager / HR Advisor


£30,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experince.

Are you looking for a responsible HR Manager role? Are you able to work independently and deal with all day to day queries for a busy team? Do you have proven HR skills and the ability to manage HR matters first hand?

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the development of staff as well as advising on employment policies and procedures. The Human Resources Manager controls all Employee Relations as well as remuneration, compensation and benefits.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for all staff and agency staffing HR matters; linking in with an external Employment HR/Law support if required.

What will the role involve?

  • Maintaining and updating policies and procedures

  • Controlling and administering all disciplinary action, grievances and all associated investigations.

  • Minute all meetings involving employees and filing on personal record.

  • Liaise with line managers to identify recruitment needs.

  • Collaborate to discuss job descriptions and person specifications as vacancies arise or positions change

  • Advertise internally and externally using available resources.

  • Shortlist with managers, prepare for interviews, trial days and questionnaires.

  • Complete reference checks for all new staff. Agency transfers excluded.

  • Issuing offers, handbooks and contracts of employment to new employees as well as all other necessary documentation. (policies and handbook supported by employment external)

  • Ensuring Induction Plans are created within departments if required.

  • Scheduling and taking part in Probationary reviews

  • Scheduling and taking part in Appraisals

  • New Year holiday administration and distributions of holiday forms and maintenance of holiday records

  • Administering salary increases and bonuses.

  • Manage temporary worker agencies to ensure production demand is met.

  • Maintain timesheets for agency staff

  • Manage all types of leave including Maternity, Paternity and other special leave requests.

  • Hold return to work interviews and risk assessments for staff following serious illness or injury

  • Managing leavers and conducting Exit Interviews

  • Assisting in the preparation for Payroll
