Financial Controller - Maternity Contract (15 months)


Location: Mitcham, hybrid working


You will be working for this global leading business based within their offices in Mitcham



Are you educated to graduate degree level (2.1 minimum) or equivalent?


Are you ACA, CIMA or QBE qualified?


Salary:


£60,000 to £65,000 per annum.


Bonus:


This is discretionary and dependent on a combination the individual and Company performance


Holiday:


33 days holiday, including 8 bank holidays and 3 office closure days (between Christmas and New Year) - this increases by 1 day for every full year's service up to a max of 37 days


You will be using independent judgment and accounting principles in compiling advanced financial information, reconciling and controlling financial data to provide accurate and useful information for management. Setting up and managing financial processes to ensure compliance with legal and company rules. This role serves as the "go to" person for all associates on accounting issues and day to day financial matters. Reporting directly to the Finance Director but heavily involved with the Leadership team to grow the business and meet its potential.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities for the Financial Controller



  • Production of monthly management accounts submitted to the US corporate head office within a short 2 day timetable

  • Reviews and analyses financial data for accuracy; identifies and solves more complex problems (i.e., identifies and corrects financial system errors, evaluating alternative accounting methods); and supports day-to-day operations of the department/division

  • Reconciles and confirms general ledger accuracy, including preparation of journal entries and account analysis. Prepares monthly accounts. Recognises, recommends and corrects general ledger discrepancies

  • Works with IT and other departments to develop ERP system and improve processes throughout the organisation to increase efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness and improve controls

  • Prepare financial information for auditors. Primary contact for the auditors (EY). Responsible for arranging audit timetable and ensuring auditors are provided with all necessary information as well as responding to any additional questions

  • Processes, summarises and reports on advanced financial transactions to provide accurate, timely and useful information to management.

  • Manages and co-ordinates a team of 4 individuals. This includes advice, training, also recruiting of replacement or additional staff if necessary

  • Keeps abreast of changing accounting practices and uses financial software to maximize departmental efficiencies

  • May serve in a lead capacity on special projects, mentor and training co-workers

  • Corresponds with tax authorities, headquarters management and others as needed to correctly report financial information

  • Management responsibility for 4 employees

  • Daily interaction within the departmental peers, managers (i.e., Sales, Marketing,



Key Skills and Experience



  • Strong IT Skills, specifically Excel (intermediate to advanced) and some use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Eye for detail

  • Strong organisational skills (including time-management skills)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to build supplier and client relationships
