Office Angels are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance and Payroll Manager to join our client who is an Educational facility based in Durham, on a temporary contract basis starting ASAP.


This is a temporary position, to provide support while the Academy recruit for the role on a permanent basis, therefore the post is likely to run on a temp basis for up to 6-8 weeks, however could continue longer thereafter. The Academy may consider the role on a permanent basis for the right candidate, following the temporary period.


As Finance and Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for full financial management within the central team, directly line managing the finance officer within the team.

  • Salary: £29,174 to £33,486

  • Full-time working hours, 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday

  • Immediate start

  • Free on-site parking


The role & responsilbilities:



  • Provide high quality financial advice and guidance to budget holders and the Senior Leadership Team

  • Oversee the Academy's procurement processes and procedures ensuring best value is achieved in all purchasing activity

  • Produce annual financial statements, prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors

  • Ensure all statutory returns required by the Funding Body, HMRC, Teachers' Pension Service etc. are completed and submitted within agreed deadlines

  • Produce accurate financial reports to tight deadlines, including the management accounts

  • Implement month end procedures, prepare monthly reconciliations and contribute to their on-going development

  • Ensure that monthly payroll information is checked, authorised, submitted and processed in a timely manner

  • Ensure that the relevant accounting standards are appropriately applied in the production of the monthly budgetary monitoring and control statements and annual accounts

  • Oversee the Academy's fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers and depreciation charges.

  • Lead and oversee the work of the Academy's accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

  • Manage the payroll service contract

  • Liaise with the Executive Assistant to ensure payroll checks are coordinated with day to day salary amendments
