Finance Officer - Sales Ledger


Salary: £27,459 to £31,552 per annum


Based in Sutton, Surrey


Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week, throughout the year



Our client who are within the education sector is seeking a Finance Officer - Sales Ledger



Due to internal promotion they are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person to join their Finance team.


As a finance officer you will have responsibility for the sales ledger of a regional hub ensuring all invoices are raised accurately, debtors managed and bank accounts reconciled.


The ideal candidate will have some experience of computerised software (ideally financial) and working with spreadsheets and be willing to study towards a professional finance qualification.


You will possess strong IT skills, organisational and time management skills. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to priorities a busy workload effectively and work as part of a team. The role is suitable for someone who wishes to follow the apprenticeship route and there is ideal opportunity for individuals to progress into a finance and accountancy career.


The Finance team is based in Sutton but there is an expectation that you may travel to all centres as required.

Qualifications and Experience



  • Priority Experience of working in a Finance department

  • GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or equivalent

  • Willing to study towards a professional finance qualification or part qualified

  • accountant Knowledge of double entry book keeping

  • Experience using computerised software (ideally financial)

  • Knowledge of month end procedures

  • Experience of using spreadsheets

  • Previous experience of working within an accounts function in small to

  • medium sized business Previous experience of managing debts

  • Previous experience of bank reconciliations

  • Experience of working within the education sector
