JOB TITLE: Finance Assistant


LOCATION: Glastonbury, Somerset (office based)


SALARY: £25,000-£30,000


HOURS: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm with an hour for lunch

THE ROLE: We are currently recruiting a full time Finance Assistant to support and assist the Group Finance Manager in the Group's day-to-day finance activities. In particular processes relating to accounts payable and accounts receivable; invoice processing, bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring/management, supplier management and supplier reconciliation, and general administrative duties. The individual will also liaise with all departments and suppliers to provide support with any financial tasks as required.


The key responsibilities of the role are:



  • Support the Finance Manager in the finance department's day-to-day tasks, including processes relating to accounts payable and accounts receivable; processing invoices and payments (external and intergroup invoicing), bank reconciliations and cashflow tracking, supplier management and supplier reconciliations, ensuring all deadlines are met and any issues resolved.

  • Process Invoices and payments accurately.

  • Monitor any outstanding invoices and process them to ensure timely payment.

  • Liaising with suppliers and responding to enquiries promptly by telephone or in writing.

  • Process Construction Industry Scheme and VAT return submissions in a timely manner, with a high level of attention to attention.

  • Performing bank reconciliations and bank General Ledger postings.

  • Attending weekly Cash Flow meetings with the Group's directors.

  • Support the Group Finance Manager in running month end accounts and undertaking month end balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Support the Group Finance Manager in preparing for year-end audits, compiling and checking information as required.

  • Carry out routine administrative procedures to support the smooth running of the department and general office, including filing, opening post and answering phones.


Experience required:



  • Experience working within a small busy finance department.

  • Experience within a SME, with exposure to the financial processes from start to finish.

  • Experienced in a range of finance tasks, including processing invoices and completing bank, sales and purchase ledger reconciliations.

  • Excellent IT skills, comfortable using computerised accounting packages for SME's and with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Adaptable - flexible in approach and quick to learn.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act with diplomacy.

  • Excellent communication skills, in written and spoken English.

  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding and changeable environment.

  • Ability to solve problems in a calm and methodical manner, and use own initiative.

  • Strong customer service focus, with a positive, professional and proactive attitude.

  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and effectively meet deadlines


Desirable



  • Qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience.

  • working towards an industry recognised qualification in accounting (e.g. AAT) or equivalent.

  • Experience of using SAGE or another accounting system.

  • Experience within the construction sector or property development.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme.
