We're really excited to be recruiting for this successful, interesting and expanding Global Manufacturing business in their search for an Export Compliance Officer to work as part of the Finance department. As the Export Compliance Officer you'll be responsible for ensuring export activities comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Job Title: Export Compliance Officer


Location: Whitstable, Kent


Salary: £35,000 - £45,000


Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4:30pm and Friday 8am - 1:30pm

As an Export Compliance Officer your main duties and tasks would be:



  • Assign export control classification, tariff codes and customs description of products and technologies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in the ERP system.

  • Prepare and submit export license applications and other required documentation to government agencies.

  • Interpret and communicate changes and terms and conditions of use for export licences.

  • Interpret and communicate changes to existing regulations and new legislation to all cross functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Monitor changes in export regulations and requirements and update internal policies and procedures as necessary.

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on export compliance requirements and best practices.

  • Maintain and update compliance records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Investigate and report any suspected violations of export regulations to management and regulatory agencies as required.

  • Interface with government agencies, such as the Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU), and HMRC, as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Review proposed transactions against existing export licenses to confirm compliance.

  • Support internal and external audits and investigations related to export compliance.

  • Restricted and denied party screening.

  • Completion of customer export declaration forms.

  • Develop, implement and maintain export compliance program to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of export activities to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.


Ideal skills for the position:



  • Experience in a similar Export position.

  • Previous experience managing multiple projects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex compliance issues.
