Job Title: Estimator


Location: Near Ashford


Salary: £30k - £34k


Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm (30 minute lunch)

The company we're recruiting for are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Estimator, ideally with an engineering/manufacturing background, to join their growing team of 14.


As an Estimator your main responsibilities would be:



  • Acknowledge and respond to client enquiries in a timely manner

  • Speaking with 20 key existing customers and new customers to produce quotes for them

  • Assess project enquiries, identifying client requirements and establishing practical technical solutions in agreement with the shop floor team

  • With the Production Engineer's help, read drawings, interpret and analyse all applicable information and documents to prepare estimates

  • With the Production Engineer's help, establish production processing and external subcontractor requirements that can deliver the product as specified by customers

  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and other external partners during estimate creation, quotations, and final order fulfilment

  • Use the company Progress Plus software programme to calculate and document estimates and prepare quotations

  • Occasionally visiting customer sites to assist in providing cost information on new components/projects

  • Please note there is no sales involved with this role


Ideal skills and experience for the position:



  • HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Previous Estimating experience

  • The ability to read and fully understand manufacturing drawings

  • Enthusiastic about attention to detail and be fully focused on delivering the highest level of quality and service to every customer

  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with staff, suppliers and customers on a daily basis
