Job Title: Engineering Workshop / Production Manager

Location: Taunton, Somerset

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 PA DOE

Hours: Core hours are Monday - Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-16:00

The Company: Our client are a leading engineering firm who supply products to a range of industries including marine, defence, aerospace, nuclear, utilities and industrial. They are a well renowned company in their field involved with multiple scale projects across the UK. You will be joining an established and longstanding team with exceptional work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company's engineering procedures & standards are maintained to the highest level.

  • Effectively Manage Staff, Plant and Equipment at all workshop locations and on site.

  • Ensure that all proposals put forward comply with the relevant statutory requirements.

  • Ensure that all units assembled by the company are properly tested and approved by a competent person prior to dispatch.

  • Take responsibility for the on-time completion of all engineering projects, within budget, pre and post contract agreed with Depot Manager, Project Managers & Directors.

  • Provide technical advice & guidance to the Company's internal & external sales teams.

  • Review & report on actual v budget costs for each project as and when required.

  • Conduct site visits and prepare quotations and submit proposals.

  • Maintain and develop key customers as agreed with the Sales Director.

  • With the Depot Manager, prepare an annual Departmental cost budget by the end of November each financial year

  • Update engineers time sheets weekly to projects or jobs, coordinate with other members of staff to ensure invoicing is completed accurately and on time for all workshops and on site activities.

  • Ensure all quotations submitted show at least the minimum gross margin agreed with the Sales Director.

Skills, experience and knowledge requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of hydraulic components and circuitry ideally BFPA/CETOP Level 3.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering practices and applications.

  • Good understanding of current IT systems and their potential benefits to the organisation.

  • Good working knowledge of CAD.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Energetic and self-motivated.

  • Ability to motivate and lead a team of people.

  • Friendly & good humoured..

  • Good planning & time-management skills.
