Content Manager

JOB TITLE: Content Manager (3 month contract)


SALARY: £35k-£40k (pro rata'd)


HOURS: 40 hours a week, flexible start/finish times


LOCATION: Near Folkestone


We are currently recruiting for a Content Manager on a 3 month contract (possibly longer) for an extremely busy multi-million pound company. The company we're recruiting for are working to strict social distancing guidelines at this time but are still very much open for business and have seen a huge increase in sales recently.


As the Content Manager your main purpose is to oversee all content creation activities for the company website as well as marketplaces. The company website has lists of almost 100,000 products and with new lines being added every day they need to ensure that these products are uploaded and ready to go live on the company website as soon as possible. Ensuring that the tone and structure are consistent and the quality of what they write is kept to the highest possible standard, the content on new releases must also be unique to ensure they are a cut above the competition.


Within your new role as Content Manager you will be:



  • Working within the marketing team to devise a web content strategy that aligns with the company's online strategy and improving the efficiency for the best possible results

  • Responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining content to achieve business goals

  • Overseeing all marketing content initiatives to ensure customer engagement, brand consistency and a positive customer experience


Key responsibilities:



  • Creation, integration and maintenance of full products range by means of researching and interpreting data provided by the manufacturers and suppliers

  • Perform keyword research in coordination with business objectives to optimise existing content and uncover new opportunities

  • Provide SEO analysis and solutions in coordination with elements and structure of websites and web pages

  • Communication to team and management on formulation and development of business strategies, timelines, and results

  • Data analysis of reports to problem solve and optimise online listings to maintain accurate database and integration with associated mediums

  • Maximise sales potential through full and thorough maintenance of the database

  • Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing targets

  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop site content, style, and layout

  • Edit, proofread and improve Content Writers' posts to ensure accuracy and brand consistency

  • Manage content distribution to online channels to increase web traffic

  • Ensure compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection)

  • Ensuring all products have any relevant accessories attached on roll out

  • Regulating and checking any information fed from the buying team.

  • Checking and uploading images

  • Maintaining accuracy within time and target pressures

  • Ensuring all content is kept up to date

  • Working closely with the creative, technical and trading team to ensure product imagery is processed correctly

  • Producing ad-hoc reports, using SQL, MongoDB, or Google Analytics

  • Assisting the marketing team with dynamic personalisation for email and web platforms using Jinja and CSS

  • Writing SQL queries to update and import product data

  • Able to troubleshoot issues in product data feed applications

  • Prepare product data and perform Intrastat submission to HMRC (statutory reporting to HMRC)


Skills and experience required for this position:



  • Proven work experience as a Content Manager

  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel, and content management software

  • Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics

  • An understanding of modern web mark-up languages

  • Understanding of Google shopping, Google Merchant Centre, and Analytics

  • Excellent editorial understanding and visual awareness

  • Knowledge of SQL Server (T-SQL), No-SQL DB (Mongo, Redis) CSS and Jinja (Python) and ecommerce personalisation platforms. Familiar with a variety of operating systems and platforms (Windows 7-10, Server 2012+)
