Company Driver

The post holder will transport service users and staff to and from destinations as required in a safe and professional manner and assist them on entry and exit from vehicles as necessary.

The post holder will have an understanding of our patient needs and behaviours and be able to communicate effectively.

Transport all relevant items including documentations, clinical specimens, laundry, medical supplies and offer furniture to specified locations in appropriate containers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Transporting patients and staff in a safe and professional manner

  • Take instructions from various senior members of the company

  • Drive patients and staff to their destinations on time

  • Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle if necessary

  • Report traffic delays on route back to base for work planning

  • Report any incidents or accidents back to the supervisor

  • Operate wheelchair lift as needed

  • Report emergencies in the case of faults with vehicles to the supervisor

  • To be the company courier for documents and equipment as necessary

  • To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job


  • Maintain company vehicles in a clean and tidy condition and ensure oil/fuel levels and safety aspects of vehicles before commencement of daily runs including tyres, brakes, lights, steering etc

  • Quality, Governance and Administration

  • Participate in staff personal Development Plan working towards agreed objectives and undertaking training where necessary

  • Assist in the maintenance and control of stock equipment and materials, and to use unit stock with due care and economy

  • To build a positive relationship with patients and to use a variety of communication skills, in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture

  • To be aware of and comply with the company's policies of record keeping, ensuring that all records meet with identified standards.

  • To be aware of the clinical governance agenda, locally and nationally and to understand its' impact on the health care assistant role

  • To communicate effectively as part of the Multi-disciplinary team and in a manner that enhances the team

  • Ensure that clients receive a culturally competent service
