Up to £35k per annum, experience depending
Brentwood, Essex
Monday-Friday, 40 hours

Role Purpose:

To lead the process of evaluating and classifying incoming enquiries by existing and potential customers, checking suitability and accepting or rejecting as appropriate. Provide accurate quotations by effective estimation, liaising with the applicable internal stakeholders or use of target/framework rates and respond to customers in agreed timescales. Actively engage with the project delivery teams, external customer teams and other stakeholders to provide commercial oversight of projects and act as commercial liaison for commercial issues; ensuring projects deliver expected returns.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure customer enquiries and quotations are accurately and efficiently delivered in line with KPIs;

  • Keep all relevant internal systems updated with quotations and enquiry information ahead of formal project handover;

  • Provide accurate MI for order book value and other commercial information;

  • Provide commercial oversight for projects acting as a key escalation point for commercial issues;

  • Ensure all contractual applications for payments are submitted within applicable timescales;

  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of contracting methodologies

  • Maintain key KPI data for commercial activity;

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders in finance and operations to ensure visibility of commercial aspects of projects;

  • Support project managers to deliver projects at the applicable profit levels;

  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of Company pricing and supply chain to ensure all quotations are based on the correct commercial data;

  • Lead commercial handovers for more complex projects to ensure that operational teams have clear understanding of project deliverables;

  • Maintain a detailed market knowledge for the markets the Company works in to keep up to date with market activity and trends.

Key Competencies:

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or significant experience in estimation or similar area;

  • Excellent commercial acumen and understanding of pricing models and other relevant commercial methodologies;

  • Outstanding relationship building experience, comfortable building relationships at all levels;

  • Experience working with various contracting formats, for instance NEC;

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage rapidly changing priorities;

  • Demonstratable experience of the ability to be consistently accurate in all aspects of work;

  • Experience of managing multiple competing priorities at the same time.

Preferable Skills:

  • Utilities or construction contracting experience;

  • Experience of large infrastructure projects.

Operating Environment:

The role will require a mixture of remote working and working from the Brentwood office with site visits and client visits across the UK as required. Travelling and working away from home may also be required.
