JOB TITLE: Care Coordinator

LOCATION: Newton Abbott

SALARY: £23,000 PA

HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm

THE COMPANY: A rapidly expanding Southwest based leading healthcare business.

THE ROLE: The purpose of the post is to manage and communicate an efficient and effective rota for staff Including training, leave and meeting the client's needs. There is a requirement to be a fast paced, self-motivated and customer focused individual who can multitask and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. It is essential to have an excellent telephone manner, along with good communication and influencing skills and demonstrate working effectively with team members and carers.


  • Assigning care workers to packages on a permanent basis for continuity of care.

  • Ensuring visits are efficiently coordinated taking client preferences, locations, and staff availability into account.

  • Preparation of reports timely and accurately as requested by the team.

  • Ensuring that holiday, sickness and emergency calls are efficiently covered, and all

  • affected parties communicated with by telephone and followed up by email or text to confirm.

  • Ensuring monitoring system is adhered to in a timely and efficient way to ensure escalation of risks and early solving of issues.

  • Working with other departments to manage sickness, holidays and training for front line staff to ensure attendance and rota \ cover is effective.

  • To assist the team in holding meetings and events as required by booking the event, catering and rota adaptation to facilitate the event.

  • Ensure that weekly TUPE and staff timesheets are correctly filled out and match company records.

  • Carry out general office duties, telephone support, room bookings and other ad hoc duties required by the Management Team.

  • Complete and distribute rotas on a monthly basis, 5 weeks before the beginning of the month.


The successful candidate will possess the below attributes, ideally having come from a coordination role within care but this is not essential and candidates from a coordination post who have had to deal with scheduling/timesheets/rotas and allocating staff will also be considered.

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills with interpersonal skills both verbal and written

  • Excellent planning, organisational and coordinating skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

  • Excellent clerical, administrative and IT (computer) skills

  • Experience of working in care sector especially in similar position preferable but not essential

  • Ability to make decisions

  • Good use of initiative
