Buyer- £33,000 to £41,000 DOE!

SALARY: £33,000- £41,000 per annum- Depending on experience! This position can offer Temporary to permanent!

Overview of the role: Reporting to the Purchasing Manager this role will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the company's overall purchasing strategy whilst achieving specific KPI's and cost down targets.

You will be responsible for bringing in new products to production whilst achieving the best possible price.

Duties will include:

  • Identifying the organisations purchasing needs and develop strategies to ensure the company's purchasing goals are met.

  • Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best price, quantities, Terms of Business, and delivery timescales

  • Research, develop and evaluate new suppliers on a global scale

  • Effectively manage the critical path to deliver products on time and maximise profit

  • Work closely with different teams to Manage orders

  • Project management of purchasing activities relating to new product development and engineering changes.

  • Monitor and report upon supplier performance, liaise with quality assurance on supplier status, produce monthly reports on all the above as required by department manger

  • Manage performance improvement activities with the suppliers

I'd love to speak to candidate who:

  • Are strong negotiators - preferably knowledge of "should cost" techniques. This is not essential

  • Are strong relationship builders with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Have a drive to achieve best value and ongoing cost reduction.

  • Have confidence in their decision making and who can think on their feet and problem solve

  • Ideally have between 3-5+ years purchasing experience.

  • Have experience in project management and managing suppliers is desirable not essential

  • Excellent commercial awareness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree/HND calibre preferably with a CIPS qualification, or be studying towards CIP
