Do you have experience overseeing a purchasing function? Are you looking for a role that you can really put your name on? Office Angels are working with a large wholesale business to recruit for an experienced buyer to head up their purchasing function. This role would suit someone with a history in procurement and experience as a senior member of a buying department.

The role:



  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate best pricing

  • Constantly review supplier lists and evaluate pricing and terms

  • Input and issue purchase orders ensuring necessary materials are ordered in a timely manner

  • Be pro-active with order scheduling to ensure necessary stock is maintained

  • Handle admin tasks for department

  • Oversee stock inventory

  • Regularly report on supplier performance and manage ongoing issues

  • Chase for credits owed where applicable

  • Be ever looking for new suppliers to build relationships with

  • Contribute to the business' social and environmental responsibilities

  • Support on adhoc projects as required

  • Manage a small team of purchasing assistants


To be successful in this role, you will:



  • Be an experienced people manager or senior member of staff

  • Have a strong background in procurement

  • Possess the ability to research new suppliers and evaluate them

  • Have experience with IT packages including MS Office and other MRP/ERP systems

  • Have excellent negotiating skills


In return you will be entitled to:



  • An annual salary of £40,000

  • Hours of Monday to Friday 7:45-17:00 with an hours lunch (can be flexible if needed)

  • Free on-site parking
