Position: Accounts Supervisor Maternity cover


Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm


Salary: £35,000-£40,000 salary


Start date: ASAP


Duration: Minimum 12 months

The main purpose of this role is to support the Finance Director in the preparation, production and publication of the monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts, alongside day-to-day accounts admin duties including covering Accounting and Payroll absences.


Some responsibilities included:



  • Ensuring the integrity of purchase and sales ledger systems

  • Supporting the sales and purchasing functions to ensure all client invoicing and supplier invoices are processed and completed in an accurate and timely manner

  • Raise any discrepancies or issues that arise with sales invoices with the Finance Director in order to find a resolution in a timely manner

  • Resolving queries

  • Make payments via BACS for purchase ledger, payroll, loans and any other payment method as required via Business banking

  • Monthly and Yearend Accounts

  • Prepare schedule of accruals

  • Maintain Fixed Asset register and process monthly deprecation journal

  • Preparing the monthly bank reconciliation for review by the Finance Director

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll journal

  • Complete monthly control account reconciliations for payroll, credit card & petty cash

  • Assist the Financial Director in preparing the Year‐end audit file to ensure that all information is ready and available in time for the statutory audit

  • Carry out credit checks on new clients


What we are looking for:



  • Part qualified in accounting, with proven experience of financial accounting

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office package

  • Ability to communicate advice, instructions and information clearly and concisely

  • Experience of managing people and of working closely with all levels of employee, client and suppliers

  • Attention to detail is key

  • High degree of customer service, confidentiality and professionalism
