Accounts Assistant

JOB TITLE: Accounts Assistant


LOCATION: Taunton, Somerset


SALARY: £19,000


HOURS: Monday - Friday, 9:00am till 5:30pm (1 hour lunch break)

THE ROLE: We have an exciting opportunity for an organised and conscientious Accounts Administrator to support a growing accounts department with various administration duties. This is a varied role and will therefore be most suitable to someone who enjoys working in a busy, fast paced environment with the ability to prioritise their work load and adapts well to change. You will also be very organised and have great attention to detail.


Key responsibilities for this role will include:



  • Managing charges and refunds

  • Allocating payments

  • Setting up and managing direct debit payments

  • Matching and allocating all card and check receipts

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Processing purchase ledger invoices, processing charges and supplier payments

  • Completing quarterly VAT returns and any reclaim re-charges

  • Supporting budget and forecasting processes

  • Providing support with month-end and year-end tasks

  • General assistance to the day-to-day work of the department and with ad hoc projects


The successful candidate with possesses the following skills:



  • Good IT skills including knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

  • Numerate and able to input data accurately

  • Focused, confident and assertive

  • Good team worker, willing to both support and set a good example to other team members

  • Values and promotes equality and diversity
